The Challenge
As an existing supplier to sister company Pedigree Wholesale, Egress Systems were the first choice for Just for Pets when considering a time and attendance solution.
With nearly 200 staff deployed across many small stores, a low-cost solution was required with team rostering that could be easily managed by store managers with minimal training. Planning to a budget was a key requirement to align staffing levels to anticipated turnover by store per day.
The Solution
For easy deployment, Egress Systems suggested our cloud-based Focus system for managers and administrative staff, which requires no specialist IT infrastructure. Each store manager and assistant store manager was given a limited access sign-on to plan the roster for their individual store and review and edit staff timesheets prior to payroll. Managers were also able to grant staff holiday requests and easily keep tabs on staff attendance. Budgets can be quickly loaded into the Focus Rota by central staff providing the basis for store staff planning.
Just for Pets employees utilise the Focus Self Service app for clocking with the Focus Wave NFC tag. This cost-effective solution speeds up new staff enrolment and removes the requirement for physical clocking terminal purchase for each store. Staff can also make holiday requests and view their timesheets and rostered shifts on the app.
The Results
Following the success of the Focus Time & Attendance system for Just for Pets, Pedigree are commencing the rollout of a separate Focus system for the newly acquired Pets and Friends retail chain in February and March 2025, ready for the new financial year. Pets and Friends currently have 19 stores across the Midlands.
